What's your
visitor's problem?

Why do people like some web
sites and not others? What are
the positive experiences that grab and maintain you
visitors attention and that encourage them to come back; or
even to buy your product or sign up for your services?
Well I've been doing research
and I have identified the
follow factors that contribute to the success of a web site:
1. Visitors are provided with
a quick and helpful response
to their customer service questions
2. The web site provides comprehensive information that is
relevant to the specific needs of the visitor
3. The web site has credibility, contact information is
available and the available information is attributed to a
reliable and accurate source
4. The content is relevant, fresh and is regularly updated
with new and interesting material
5. The web site looks professionally designed, is well
structured and easy to navigate
And, what are the factors that
put our visitors off? What
are the main causes of a visitor simply closing the browser
window or clicking away?
1. Broken links, a web site
with even just a single link
that doesn't work can undermine your credibility in the eyes
of your visitors
2. Web sites that are sometimes unexpectedly unavailable and
return a "Page not found" error or a "Gateway Timed Out"
error.
3. Web sites that contain spelling or grammatical errors, or
where the use of language is too casual and not business
like.
4. Web sites that have content or offers that are out of
date or web sites that are rarely updated with new content
5. Web sites with poor navigation or where there are simply
too many clicks to reach the information that your visitor
is seeking
6. Web sites that have links to a site that is not credible
or where the content might endorse a product, person or
service that has a poor reputation.
How often do you check your
own web site? Can you honestly
say that you make sure that your web site is fully
functioning every day? Remember the two biggest turn offs
are about sites that are unreliable, so it is vital that you
regularly check your web site is available and that all your
navigation links are intact.
How often do you update your
web site content? Do you
regularly add new articles or look for ways of adding new
content? Is your content presented in the most professional
way? Is your content free of spelling mistakes and other
errors?
To be successful you must provide
relevant, up to date and
accurate information. Your web site should be easy to
navigate and you should only link to other web sites that
are credible in their own right.
I can't put it any better than this:
"Be of good cheer. Do
not think of today's failures, but of
the success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourself a
difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and
you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles."
